Every EmailFig campaign shares sending infrastructure with every other customer's, so one bad sender's bounces and spam complaints can damage inbox placement for everyone else on the platform. This policy is the specific standard behind the acceptable-use section of our Terms of Service, narrow enough to act on and public so you know exactly what it checks for.
How this fits the Terms
This Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service by reference. Agreeing to one means agreeing to both. Where this policy gives more detail than the Terms, this policy governs; where they conflict on anything else, the Terms govern.
Permission-based sending
Send only to people who asked to hear from you: a checkout, a signup form, a signed contract, an existing business relationship recognized by CASL or CAN-SPAM as implied consent. Every list needs a real answer to "how did this person end up here," and "I found their address" is never one. Honor every unsubscribe immediately; EmailFig enforces this platform-wide regardless of what your own list settings say, so a suppressed address stays suppressed even if you re-import it.
Prohibited content
You may not send, or use EmailFig to host content that is sent, involving:
- Phishing, malware, or anything designed to compromise a recipient's account, device, or funds
- Deceptive subject lines, sender names, or claims: the "from" a recipient sees must be who's actually sending
- Illegal goods or services, or content that infringes someone else's intellectual property
- Hate speech, harassment, or content that threatens or incites harm against a person or group
- Multi-level marketing, "get rich quick," or cryptocurrency schemes built around recruiting rather than a real product
- Adult content sent to a general list rather than one that specifically opted into it
Links in your campaigns are checked against a maintained blocklist of known-bad destinations before send; a match blocks that campaign outright, independent of anything else in it.
Prohibited list practices
Beyond the consent standard above, you may not:
- Upload a purchased, rented, harvested, or scraped list, even if the addresses on it are individually real
- Import a list acquired through a co-registration or lead-gen source where recipients didn't clearly agree to hear from you specifically
- Use EmailFig to test whether a list of addresses is valid or active (address harvesting via bounce/open signal)
- Re-import an address that unsubscribed or was suppressed on your account
List quality is checked at import, before anything is sent from it. A list that looks purchased or scraped can hold your account before its first send, not after damage is done.
How we enforce this
Every campaign is screened before it sends: a link-safety check, an automated content review, and, for some sends, a mandatory hold for staff review regardless of what the automated check found. A held campaign doesn't fail; it waits, and we email you either way so a hold is never a silent dead end.
We don't publish the exact signals or thresholds the automated review uses. That's deliberate: the detail that would satisfy curiosity is the same detail that would let someone tune content to slip past it, and the honest senders this policy exists to protect are the ones who'd never need to know it.
Suspension & appeals
A clear violation suspends the account: every in-flight send stops, and scheduled campaigns are canceled rather than left to finish. Where the violation isn't clear-cut, we hold the specific campaign for staff review instead of suspending the account outright. Suspension is a stop, not a data loss: your lists and account data are untouched, and you can write to contact@emailfig.com to ask what triggered it and contest the decision. We don't restore a suspension-canceled send; if it was legitimate, re-send it as a new campaign once the account is clear.
Reporting abuse
If you received an EmailFig-sent message you believe violates this policy, including one you never signed up for, every message carries a one-click unsubscribe that also suppresses future sends to that address immediately. To report the sender rather than just opt out, forward the message with its headers to contact@emailfig.com; we investigate every report against this policy.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy as abuse patterns evolve. The specific list of prohibited practices is likely to grow before it shrinks. For material changes we'll email the address on your account, same as a change to the Terms themselves.
Questions about whether something is allowed before you send it? Ask first at contact@emailfig.com. A human replies, and it's faster than finding out after a hold.
