Book club monthly pick and meeting email template

A book club runs on people finishing the book, so this email makes the pick easy to start. It says how long the book is, gives a short blurb and three questions to chew on, and members arrive having read it.

What's in this template

  1. Strip with the meeting time and place
  2. Big italic headline announcing the month's pick
  3. Photo on a dark green ground
  4. Short note on length, with the button: Get the book
  5. Book title with a 2-sentence blurb
  6. Details list: length, where to find it, when you meet
  7. 3 numbered discussion questions
  8. Closing band with the meeting time and the button: Save my seat

When to use it

A few weeks before each meeting, once you have picked the book. Bookstore clubs, library groups and workplace reading circles can all use it, and the questions give members something to think about before they arrive.

Make it yours

  • Add the real title, page count and a blurb that does not spoil the ending.
  • Rewrite the three questions for your book, and keep them open-ended.
  • Point the Get the book button at wherever members can buy or borrow it.
