Connect EmailFig to Contact Form 7

A subscribe checkbox on any form. Tags and extra answers come along.

About Contact Form 7

Contact Form 7 is a popular form plugin for WordPress. With the EmailFig plugin, you add one tag to a form and it gains a subscribe checkbox. Everyone who ticks it joins the list you chose, tagged by the form, and any field you name after an EmailFig custom field is saved with them. The form still sends its own mail as before.

What you can do

  • Add a subscribe checkbox to any form with one tag.
  • Choose the list, the wording, and whether the box starts ticked.
  • Save extra answers, like a company name, to your custom fields.
  • Pick a double opt-in list, so people confirm by email before they're added.

Set it up

  1. Install the EmailFig plugin and connect it with an API key from Settings, API keys.
  2. Under Subscribe checkboxes, turn on Contact Form 7 and choose a list.
  3. Put the [emailfig_subscribe] tag in each form that should ask.

Questions

Which forms get the checkbox?

Only the forms you put the tag in. Turning the integration on adds nothing to a form by itself.

Can I save other fields, like a company name?

Yes. Add a custom field in EmailFig, then name the form field after it, such as emailfig-company. The plugin lists the name to use for each of your custom fields.

Does it still subscribe someone if my site's mail fails?

Yes. The subscription runs when the form is submitted, whether or not the site's own email goes out.
