Connect Claude or ChatGPT
Ask Claude or ChatGPT about your lists, automations, forms and results, update contacts, and draft campaigns you review and send from EmailFig.
Connect EmailFig to Claude, Claude Code or ChatGPT and you can work in your account from a chat: ask how a campaign did, look someone up, add them to a list, or have it draft this week’s newsletter. A chat app never sends a campaign, though it can email you a test. It saves a draft, and you check it and press send in EmailFig.
Connect
-
Add EmailFig to your chat app as a custom connector, with the server URL
https://emailfig.com/mcp:- Claude: go to Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, and paste the URL.
- ChatGPT: add a custom connector with the URL. Depending on your ChatGPT plan, this may need developer mode turned on in its settings.
- Claude Code: run
claude mcp add --transport http emailfig https://emailfig.com/mcp, then/mcpto connect.
If EmailFig appears in the app’s own directory, you can add it from there instead.
-
Your browser opens EmailFig. Sign in as usual if you aren’t already.
-
On the Connect Claude (or Connect ChatGPT) page, choose the Account the app should work in and click Approve. If EmailFig asks you to Confirm it’s you, enter the code and click Approve.
-
You’re sent back to the chat app, connected.
Each connection covers one account. If you’re in several, connect again and choose the other account. Connecting the same app to the same account again replaces your earlier connection, so connecting Claude Code on a second computer disconnects the first.
What you can ask for
- “How did last week’s newsletter do?”
- “Is sarah@example.com subscribed? Which lists is she on?”
- “Add sam@example.com to my Newsletter list and tag them VIP.”
- “Unsubscribe old@example.com.”
- “What happened to sarah@example.com? Did she get the welcome emails?”
- “How is my welcome automation doing? Is anyone stuck?”
- “Which of my signup forms got the most signups in the last 30 days?”
- “Show me the images in my library.” Or: “Add this logo to my library: https://example.com/logo.png.”
- “Write this week’s newsletter about our autumn menu and send it to my Newsletter list.” (It saves a draft for you to review.)
- “Make the subject shorter.” (It changes the draft it just made.)
- “Send me a test of that draft.” (It goes to your own address.)
The app can read your account’s details, contacts and their recent activity, lists, tags, segments, custom fields, templates, signup forms, automations with their results, images, and campaigns with their email, audience and reports. It can add people to a list, change a contact’s name and custom fields, add and remove tags, unsubscribe an address, add a PNG, JPEG or GIF to your image library from a public web address, save and revise campaign drafts, and email you a test of a draft. It can’t send, schedule or delete a campaign, change one you’ve saved, or delete contacts.
Drafts from a chat
The chat answers with a link to the new draft. Open it, check the content, audience and subject, then send or schedule it as you would any campaign (see Send your first campaign).
The chat can keep changing the draft until you save it in EmailFig, so you can ask for a shorter subject or a different audience and get the same draft back. Just opening the draft doesn’t count. Once you save a step, schedule it or send it, the draft is yours: a chat can’t change it any more, and asking again makes a new draft. Review says who drafted it and whether the chat can still change it.
If the draft changes while Review is open, Send and Schedule stop with “This campaign changed since you opened this page. Check it, then send again.”
A draft written in blocks finishes setting itself up the first time you open it in the editor, so open it there before you review or send it.
The link opens whichever account your browser has selected. If you’re in more than one account and the draft isn’t there, switch to the account the chat named.
Adding people from a chat
Adding someone works the same as adding them through the API. A list that asks for confirmation emails them first, and they join once they confirm. Someone who has unsubscribed can’t be added back from a chat. Only add people who have agreed to hear from you.
The contact’s Signup consent card shows Added from with the app and the teammate who connected it, for example “Claude by Sam Lee”. Adding someone or tagging them can start your automations, just as it does anywhere else.
Disconnect an app
Go to Settings → Connected apps. It lists each connected app, who connected it and when it was last used. Open the row’s actions, click Disconnect and confirm. The app loses access straight away; to use it again, connect it again from the chat app.
Anyone on your team can see and disconnect every app connected to the account.
If something goes wrong
- The chat app says it isn’t connected or asks you to sign in again. The app was disconnected, or the person who connected it left the account. Connect again.
- You see “Can’t connect this app” and “This request expired.” More than 15 minutes passed before you approved. Start again from the chat app.
- The chat says it can’t change a draft. You saved it in EmailFig, or it was made by a different chat app. Ask for a new draft instead.
- An image wasn’t added. It has to be a PNG, JPEG or GIF, up to 10 MB, at a public https address that links straight to the image file, not to a page or a redirect. SVG and WebP aren’t accepted, and a chat can add 20 an hour.
- The chat can’t send you a test. A draft written in blocks has to be opened in EmailFig once first, and a chat can send 10 tests an hour.
- The chat stops adding people. A chat can add 50 people an hour. For more, import a CSV.
- A draft wasn’t saved. The chat gets a list of what to fix, usually a missing unsubscribe link or postal address, and can try again.
- Adding someone fails because the list needs a confirmation email. Your account can’t send yet. Finish setting up your sending domain first (see Add and verify a sending domain).
