Create an inline signup form

An inline form is a signup form you place on a page of your own website. You pick a layout, edit it in a builder with a live preview, then copy one line of code onto your site.

Create the form

1. Go to Grow and click Create new.
2. Choose Inline form.
3. Click the layout you want. You can change the colours, words and fields later, but not the layout.

EmailFig saves the form as a draft and opens the builder.

Build it

The builder shows your form on the left and a panel of tabs on the right. Switch the preview between Desktop and Mobile to check both.

To change the words, click them in the preview and type. That works for the heading, the description, the button and the consent line.

The tabs hold everything else:

• Design: the form’s Name (only you see it), its colours and fonts under Surface, and finer control under Card, Text, All fields and Button. Fields lists what visitors fill in. Email is always there and always required, and + Add a field adds a first name, last name or custom field. Tick Req. to make a field required, and drag a row to move it. Reset to starter puts the design back to how the layout started.
• Behaviour: Add to list (the list people join), any tags to add, what happens After signup, and Invisible CAPTCHA under Protection.
• Publish: the code for your site.

Under Add to list, a line tells you whether double opt-in is on for that list. If it is, new signups confirm by email before they’re subscribed. See Set up double opt-in.

Save and go live

Click Save to keep your changes, or Save & go live to save and start accepting signups. The top bar shows Unsaved changes until you save. Preview opens the form in a new tab.

A draft form shows nothing on your site, so you can paste the code before you go live. See Add a form to your website.

If something’s wrong

• You can’t change the list. An automation starts from this form. Archive the automation first, then change the list.
• The form says it “can’t go live yet”. The list uses double opt-in and your account can’t send the confirmation email yet. See Why won’t my form go live?
