Customise the unsubscribe experience
Choose a one-click unsubscribe or a preference centre, brand the pages recipients land on, and optionally ask why people left.
Go to Settings → Unsubscribes. Pick Simple or Preference center for what recipients see when they click the unsubscribe link, set your logo and accent colour, choose which lists appear as topics, and decide whether to ask for a reason. Preview opens the real page with your branding, read-only.
The two modes
Simple (the default): one page, one button. The recipient confirms and is unsubscribed from everything you send.
Preference center: the recipient sees your topics as tickboxes, keeps the ones they want, and saves. Keeping at least one topic resubscribes someone who had previously opted out. Unticking everything and saving is an unsubscribe from all, and there’s an explicit Unsubscribe from all button too. A preference centre usually keeps more people than it loses, because “fewer emails” is a real option next to “no emails”.
Whichever mode you choose, the one-click unsubscribe header that Gmail and Yahoo require always points at the simple page. That’s the compliance floor and it isn’t configurable. See Meet Gmail and Yahoo bulk sender requirements.
Set your topics
Under Topics, tick the lists you want shown on the preference centre. Recipients see each list’s name and description exactly as you wrote them, so a list called newsletter_v2 with no description reads badly. A list you don’t tick still exists and still receives campaigns: it just isn’t offered as a choice.
Branding
- Account name: your sender name. Shown on confirmation emails, and on recipient pages when you haven’t set a logo.
- Accent color: a hex value like
#8a2d6f. Blank uses the default. - Logo: PNG or JPG up to 2MB.
- Show “Powered by EmailFig” on public pages: can be switched off on paid plans.
Click Preview (top right of the Unsubscribe experience section) to see the page recipients get. It opens in a new tab with every control disabled.
Mailing address
The same page holds your Mailing address. Anti-spam law requires a real postal address in every email, so this is required before you can send. Put it in your footer with the Mailing address merge tag. See What every email must include.
Ask for a reason
Under Options, tick Ask for a reason to add an optional short survey to the unsubscribe page: Too many emails, I never signed up for this, Not relevant anymore, This is spam, Other, plus a comment box.
It never blocks the opt-out: someone who ignores it is still unsubscribed. The answers show up in your campaign reports and on your dashboard; see Why people unsubscribe.
What you can’t change
- Unsubscribing is always honoured, immediately. No “are you sure” chain, no re-confirmation email, no delay.
- You can’t remove the unsubscribe link from an email: every campaign needs one.
- You can’t resubscribe someone yourself. Only the recipient can, through the preference centre or a fresh confirmed signup.
