Create a popup
Build a signup popup that appears over your website, and choose when, where and how often it shows.

A popup is a signup form that opens over your website when a visitor does something you choose: stays a few seconds, scrolls down, heads for the exit, or clicks a link. You build it in the same builder as an inline form, with one extra tab for when it shows.
Create the popup
- Go to Grow and click Create new.
- Choose Popup.
- Click the layout you want. You can change everything else later, but not the layout.
EmailFig saves the popup as a draft and opens the builder.
Build it
The Design and Behaviour tabs work the same as for an inline form: see Create an inline signup form. The Display tab decides when the popup appears:
- Show it when: after a number of seconds, after the visitor scrolls part of the way down, On exit intent (when the mouse heads off the page, on computers only), or On click (when a visitor clicks a link you point at the popup). Tick as many as you like; whichever happens first opens it.
- How often: how long before the same visitor sees it again, from Every visit to 365 days, and whether to Never show again after someone signs up.
- Where: All pages, Only the pages you list, or all pages Except them. Each line matches any page whose address contains it, so
/blog/also matches/blog/my-post. Below that, choose All devices, Desktop or Mobile. - Closing: whether Clicking outside closes it, and whether to Show a close button.
The preview shows the popup as a plain form. The popup effect and the timing only work on your site.
Save and go live
Click Save, or Save & go live to start showing it. Then copy the code from the Publish tab and paste it once into your site’s <head> section. See Add a form to your website.
Only one popup opens at a time on a page. On Grow, a popup’s Views (30d) counts each time it opens, not each page visit.
