Warm up a new sending domain

Sending domains & deliverabilityUpdated

A freshly verified domain has no track record yet. Build one up by starting with your most engaged contacts and raising volume gradually.

A domain that’s just verified has no history with mailbox providers yet, so start small and build up. EmailFig doesn’t ramp a new domain’s send rate for you, so this part is yours to pace.

Start small and engaged, then grow

  1. Send your first campaigns to your most engaged contacts, not your whole list at once. A segment like “recently active” gives providers a group genuinely likely to open and click. See Build a segment with the rule builder, which includes a ready-made “Engaged” starter.
  2. Raise your volume gradually over your first several sends. There’s no fixed schedule: each send builds a little positive history before the next asks providers to trust you with more.
  3. Watch your sending health after every send. See Your deliverability health badge. A bounce or complaint rate creeping up early is worth a pause.

Separately from warm-up, EmailFig reviews some campaigns before they send. See My campaign is “in review”.

Warming up is only about how a new domain looks to receiving servers. Your account’s overall send rate and Amazon SES setup aren’t reset by a new domain.
