Add and verify a sending domain

Sending domains & deliverabilityUpdated

Add your domain, add a few DNS records, and EmailFig verifies it for you. No approval step to wait on.

Your campaigns send from your own domain once it’s verified. You add the domain, add a few records where you manage its DNS, and EmailFig checks them for you. There’s nothing to submit and nobody to wait on for approval.

  1. Go to Sending domains under Settings.
  2. Select Add domain.
  3. Enter your domain, like yourcompany.com, and select Add domain again. You need to be able to manage its DNS, but you don’t need a mailbox on it.

EmailFig sets the domain up in the background (you’ll see “Generating your DNS records…” for a few seconds) and then shows you the records to add. Add them where you manage your domain’s DNS. The DNS records we generate explains each one, and Publish DNS records at your registrar walks through how to add them.

Then select Re-check DNS, or just carry on: EmailFig keeps checking on its own, about once a minute for the first 30 minutes and once an hour after that. The status flips to Verified as soon as your records are live.

A sending domain page: the Verification card reading Pending with Add the records below at your DNS provider, and the DNS records table underneath.

DNS changes usually go live within minutes but can take up to 48 hours to spread everywhere, so a short wait in Pending is normal. A common cause of a record that never verifies is a registrar doubling your domain onto a host value that already had it. Check any stuck record against The DNS records we generate.

Which domain to use

Use your root domain (acme.com), the one your business is known by, not a subdomain like mail.acme.com. It’s what recipients see in your from address, and EmailFig sets up everything else underneath it for you.

You can verify up to 25 domains on one account. Each has to be unique across all of EmailFig, so if adding yours gets rejected, see “That domain is already in use”.

If you’re on your own Amazon SES (BYOS)

Get your AWS connection working first, since EmailFig creates the domain’s identity inside your own SES account. If you see a banner pointing you at Settings → AWS instead of the Add domain button, connect AWS first. See Connecting your own Amazon SES account.
