Getting startedUpdated

What EmailFig checks when you send, what happens if a send is held or refused, and where to find the rules.

If you’re sending permission-based email to people who asked for it, and you’re not in one of the prohibited categories, the answer is yes, and you’ll never notice the checks. The rules are the Acceptable Use Policy; this article explains what happens after you click send.

What gets checked, and when

Every campaign is screened after you send it, not while you’re writing it. Three things run in order:

  1. Link safety. Every link in your email, and in the subject line, is checked against known-harmful destinations. If one matches, the campaign is stopped.
  2. An automated content review. Your email is checked against the acceptable-use standard, along with what we already know about your account.
  3. A hold for some sends. Sometimes a person takes a look before the campaign goes out. See My campaign is “in review”.

What you’ll see

Nothing. The usual outcome. The campaign moves to sending.

“This campaign is being reviewed.” The campaign sits at in review with a banner on its page. It hasn’t failed; it’s waiting on a person, and we email you when it’s approved or if anything needs your attention. While it waits, no other campaign or automation on your account can send. See My campaign is “in review” and Why one review blocks all my sending.

“This campaign couldn’t be sent.” The campaign is failed, with a reason on the page and a Revise button that returns it to draft so you can edit and try again. You’ll also get an email.

The account is suspended. Reserved for clear violations, and for lists that fail the quality check at import. Sending stops, in-flight sends stop, and scheduled campaigns are cancelled. Your lists and data are untouched. See My account was suspended.

Held or refused messages are deliberately general. To contest a decision, or to ask about a campaign before you send it, email support@emailfig.com.

The short version of the rules

Send only to people who asked. A checkout, a signup form, a signed contract, an existing business relationship. Purchased, rented, harvested and scraped lists are prohibited, as is co-registration data where people didn’t clearly agree to hear from you.

Don’t send the obvious categories. Phishing and malware; deceptive subject lines and sender names; illegal goods; hate speech and harassment; recruitment-driven MLM and crypto schemes; adult content to a list that didn’t opt into it.

Honour every opt-out. We enforce this platform-wide whatever your own list settings say: a suppressed address stays suppressed even if you re-import it.

Your lists get checked too. We assess list quality at import, before anything is sent. See This list doesn’t meet our import quality bar.
