Pause, resume or cancel a sending campaign

CampaignsUpdated

How to stop a campaign mid-send or cancel it outright, and why a few emails can still arrive for about a minute afterwards.

You can Pause and Resume a Sending campaign from its page, and Cancel a campaign that’s Scheduled, In review, Sending or Paused. All three take effect within about a minute; the note below explains what that means in practice.

  1. Pause: on a Sending campaign’s page, select Pause. No more recipients go out, and the badge changes to Paused.
  2. Resume: on a Paused campaign, select Resume. Sending picks back up where it left off.
  3. Cancel: select Cancel and confirm “Cancel this campaign? Any pending recipients will be skipped.” This is permanent: a canceled campaign can’t be resumed.

Pausing or cancelling has a roughly 60-second tail. Stopping a send only stops new recipients. Anyone already handed off in the last minute is on their way and will still arrive, so a few more copies landing a minute later is expected.

A couple of things you can’t do

  • A Draft campaign can’t be canceled. To get rid of it, delete it instead, from its row on the Campaigns list.
  • Sent and Canceled are final: neither can be paused, resumed or canceled again.
