Campaign statuses explained
What each status on a campaign's badge means, and where a campaign can go from each one.
Every campaign carries a status badge, on its own page and in the Campaigns list. Here’s what each means and where it can go next.
The statuses
- Draft: you’re still building it in the wizard, and nothing has gone out. A draft is the only status you can edit; every other one is read-only.
- Scheduled: it has a future send time and goes out on its own once that time arrives.
- In review: held for a quick content check before it can send. While one campaign is in review, your other sends wait too. See My campaign is “in review”.
- Sending: going out to your audience right now.
- Paused: you stopped it partway through; pick it up again from where it left off.
- Sent: the send finished. The end of the line.
- Canceled: you stopped it on purpose, before or during sending. Also final.
- Failed: something stopped it before it could send (bad content, a blocked link, an empty audience, or an abuse rejection). You can recover it: see Fix and resend a failed campaign.
What can happen next from each status
- Draft → Scheduled (you schedule it), In review (held for a check at send time), Sending (you send now), Failed (something stops it as it’s prepared).
- Scheduled → Sending (the time arrives), In review, Canceled, Failed, or Draft (you unschedule it, or EmailFig sends it back after a billing problem or a schedule left stuck too long).
- In review → Sending (approved), Canceled (you cancel), Failed (rejected).
- Sending → Paused (you pause), Canceled (you cancel), Sent (the send finishes).
- Paused → Sending (you resume), Canceled (you cancel), Sent (the last recipients finished while it sat paused).
- Failed → Draft (you revise it).
- Sent and Canceled are final: no campaign leaves either.
