Fix and resend a failed campaign
What Revise does to a failed campaign, what usually causes a failure, and when to duplicate instead.
A Failed campaign didn’t get past preparation, but you can put it right and send it again. Select Revise on its page to send it back to Draft with the failure cleared, fix what caused it, and go through the wizard again.
- Open the failed campaign. Its page shows an alert, “This campaign couldn’t be sent”, with the reason underneath.
- Select Revise.
- You’re back on Setup, with the campaign in Draft again and the failure reason and any scheduled time cleared.
- Fix what caused it, then go through Review again.
What usually causes a failure
- A link in the content matches a blocked domain.
- The content doesn’t render, usually because of a mistake in a merge tag.
- The audience came out to zero recipients once suppressions and exclusions applied.
- The campaign was rejected during content review. See Acceptable use policy.
When to duplicate instead
Revise only works on a Failed campaign. Sent and Canceled are final, so there’s nothing to revise. To send something similar, duplicate the campaign instead. See Duplicate a campaign.
