Do you charge tax?
EmailFig calculates tax automatically through Stripe Tax, but only collects it in jurisdictions where the business is registered. This isn't tax advice.
EmailFig calculates and collects sales tax, VAT or GST automatically through Stripe Tax, but only in jurisdictions where the business is registered to collect it. Outside those jurisdictions, no tax is added to your invoice.
At checkout, and when you update your payment method, EmailFig collects your billing address (required) and gives you the option to add a tax ID, for example a VAT number for an EU business. Stripe uses both to work out whether tax applies and, if so, how much.
If an invoice couldn’t calculate tax
Occasionally Stripe can’t finalize an invoice because it needs a valid billing address. You’ll see a banner on Plan & billing: “We couldn’t finalize your latest invoice — please add or update your billing address so we can compute the right tax.” with an Update billing details button that takes you to update your payment details.
This article is informational only, not tax advice. If you need something specific for your accounting (a different tax treatment, an exemption certificate), email support@emailfig.com.
