Can I switch between platform and BYOS?
No: managed sending and BYOS are fixed when the account is created. Here's what to do if you genuinely need to move.
No. Whether an account sends through EmailFig’s managed infrastructure or through your own Amazon SES is decided when the account is created, and no setting, button or support tool changes it afterwards. A BYOS account’s SES resources (the tenant, configuration set, event destination and every verified domain identity) live in the AWS account it’s tied to, so switching in place would strand all of it.
This is also why the sign-up doors are separate: BYOS accounts are created at /auth/byos, and the ordinary sign-up door creates a managed account. Google sign-in is absent from the BYOS door because continuing with Google would create a managed account by mistake.
If you need to move
Email support@emailfig.com from the address you sign in with, and include:
- which direction you want to go (managed → BYOS, or BYOS → managed)
- why
- your sending domain
We handle it by hand and will tell you what it involves before anything changes. Expect real constraints:
- Your sending domain has to be released and re-verified. Domains are unique across the whole of EmailFig, so moving one is a staff operation. See “That domain is already in use”.
- Your subscription is priced by the kind of account you have. Moving means ending one subscription and starting another. See BYOS pricing.
- On the way out of BYOS, the CloudFormation stack in your AWS account can be deleted afterwards.
- On the way into BYOS, you take on an AWS account, the SES sandbox, and Amazon’s bounce and complaint thresholds. Read What is BYOS? first.
Deleting your account and signing up again isn’t a shortcut. Deletion holds the account for 30 days, and your sign-in email, sending domain and SES identity all stay reserved during that time. See Delete your account.
Choosing in the first place
If you haven’t signed up yet, this is the one thing about your account you can’t undo. Platform sending or your own Amazon SES: which to choose walks through it.
